Getting more Active  & Improving your health

Increasing our physical activity helps prevent many medical conditions including heart disease, diabetes, cancer and lung disease. Increasing physical activity also has a huge positive impact on our mental health. We know that as you increase your physical activity your stress levels reduce, your sleep improves, your memory improves and you tend to eat more nutritious food.

Did you know by increase your step count by just 500 a day reduces your risk of heart disease by 7%!

There are many ways to become more active please see below for links on resources that can help you become more active.

‘We are undefeatable’ – this is a free app where patients can access tailored exercise programmes which take into consideration there health problems https://weareundefeatable.co.uk/

‘Good gym’ – where people help people and get fit as well- there is one in Liverpool  https://www.goodgym.org/v3/areas/liverpool

‘Fit for Me’ a local organisation – patients can find out where specific activities are taking place in the city https://www.fitforme.info/activities/

‘Let’s Dance’ https://lets-dance.org.uk/  This has info on getting involved in dancing and where to start

Swim England have produced lots of fact sheets which answer questions patients might have if they are concerned about whether they can swim with their medical problems – each sheets addresses specific medial problems and the questions patients might have

They also have a pool finder where it will tell you your nearest pool and detail what facilities and activities are going on there.

Princes Park run is held every Saturday at 9am ( and you do not need to run!) you can walk, volunteer or just cheer others on. It has a great community spirit https://www.parkrun.org.uk/princes/. Members of the  practice is planning to attend on Saturday 28th June why don’t you join us?
